How to Write a Tender Method Statement

In short

Write a method statement by restating what will be delivered, describing how it will be done step by step, naming who is accountable, and evidencing the claim with a comparable contract and measurable outcome.

Structure that scores

Evaluators read dozens of responses against a marking scheme. Make the marks easy to award.

  • Opening answer: one paragraph stating exactly what you will do
  • Method: numbered steps with owners, timings and tools
  • Evidence: a named comparable contract with a measurable result
  • Risk: the two or three realistic risks and your mitigation
  • Outcome: what the buyer gets, in their language and their metrics

Common score killers

Generic capability statements, unevidenced superlatives, and answers that describe the industry rather than your organisation all lose marks. So does ignoring the word count.

Frequently asked questions

How much detail is too much?

If a sentence would not change an evaluator's score, cut it. Space spent on background is space not spent on evidence.
